About Us

The Foundation for Hellenic Studies - Illinois ("Foundation") was established by generous donations from the Hellenic and Philhellenic communities of Chicago. It raised over one million dollars to endow a named professorship in Hellenic Studies at the University of Illinois Chicago ("UIC"). Building on UIC’s strengths across many academic fields, the Foundation helps place Hellenic culture within a broad historical and contemporary context. The Foundation continues to support a comprehensive set of academic and public initiatives through strategic collaborations with organizations in Chicago, Greece, and Cyprus.

To celebrate the Hellenic experience and promote its understanding and importance through courses, content, and programs that focus on Hellenic history, culture, and the modern Greek language.
